Fire and emergency response organizations in Luzerne County have received grants exceeding $300,000 from the state, according to an announcement by Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne).

"Our Fire and EMS companies vigilantly serve our communities every day," stated Ryncavage. "I am more than pleased to see them being supported with this necessary funding so that they can continue to serve."

The funding originates from a grant program established by the Legislature and managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). It is funded through proceeds from slot machine gaming rather than General Fund tax revenue.

Eligible projects for this funding include construction or renovation of fire or ambulance facilities, equipment purchase or repair, training, or debt reduction.

Below is a list of local fire and ambulance companies along with their grant awards. Companies applying and meeting OSFC requirements receive funding after filing a grant agreement with OFSC.
