The Pennsylvania Senate has unanimously passed Senate Bill 129, a legislative measure aimed at enhancing oversight of the state's six veterans' homes. The bill is sponsored by Senators Doug Mastriano and Lisa Baker.

Senator Mastriano, who chairs the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in these facilities. "Our state veterans homes deliver an incredible service – providing care to veterans and their families when they need it the most," he stated. He added that ensuring this standard does not diminish is crucial.

Senator Baker highlighted the significance of involving current residents in selecting advisory council members. "Pennsylvania’s six veterans’ homes are important in the state’s continuum of care for our veterans and their families," she said. Including family members of current or past residents ensures that a personal voice contributes to the advisory council's decisions.

The bill will now proceed to the House of Representatives for further consideration.
