State Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) is organizing a community shredding event on April 13 to help local residents protect themselves against identity theft. The event will take place at Crestwood High School in Mountain Top from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Residents can securely dispose of documents and mail containing personal and sensitive information.
"Year after year, residents eagerly anticipate the opportunity to safely dispose of their documents, which many save throughout the year," said Ryncavage. "In the spirit of spring cleaning, and as tax season is upon us, it's crucial for individuals to take proactive steps in safeguarding their personal information from junk mail to bank statements."
The event at Crestwood High School will provide a convenient and secure way for residents to get rid of their sensitive documents. Residents can drive up to the location and have Ryncavage and his team assist them with the disposal process.
"We ask residents to stay in their vehicles, where my staff or I will be readily available to assist," Ryncavage explained. Each vehicle will be limited to shredding three copy-paper-sized boxes of paper to ensure efficient service for all participants.
Another Community Shredding Event is scheduled for July 27 at Hanover Area High School in Hanover Township. For further information about this initiative or any state-related issues, individuals can contact Ryncavage’s district offices or visit RepRyncavage.com or Facebook.com/RepRyncavage.
The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting personal information and preventing identity theft. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to securely dispose of their sensitive documents and safeguard their identities.
