Wilkes University issued the following announcement on Feb. 22.
Due to high demand, Wilkes University spring lectures featuring Jon Meacham and Margaret Atwood have been relocated to venues on and around campus. Both lectures occur in April and are free and open to the public.
Max Rosenn Lecture in Law and Humanities on Sunday, April 24: Presidential Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham will deliver the Wilkes University Max Rosenn Lecture in Law and Humanities on Sunday, April 24. The lecture, “Hope Through History,” begins at 2:30 p.m. It will now be held in the McHale Athletic Center in the Simms Center on Main, 169 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The event will mark the 40th anniversary of the lecture series, which would have been celebrated in 2020. A short documentary, filmed by members of the Rosenn family, will be played before the lecture.
Allan Hamilton Dickson Fund Spring Writers Series on Tuesday, April 26: Margaret Atwood, best-selling author of more than 50 novels including “The Handmaid’s Tale,” will be the featured author of the Allan Hamilton Dickson Fund Spring Writers Series at Wilkes University. “A Conversation with Margaret Atwood,” hosted by the Wilkes English Department, will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26. It will include a brief reading and a question-and-answer session.
The event will be held at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, 71 Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. More about Margaret Atwood and the Dickson Writers Series can be found here.
