Senator Lisa Baker is urging Pennsylvania college students and individuals seeking career training in high-demand fields to apply for the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program. This initiative, facilitated by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), provides grants up to $5,000 annually for students pursuing degrees or certifications in occupations that are currently in demand.

Applicants must commit to living and working in Pennsylvania in their chosen field post-graduation to qualify. "The Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program is a tremendous opportunity for students to gain the skills needed for Pennsylvania’s most in-demand industries while ensuring our workforce remains strong for years to come," said Baker. She added, "By investing in education and career training, we are not only supporting students but also strengthening our communities and economy. I encourage all eligible students to apply as soon as possible and take advantage of this valuable program."

Recipients of the grant must reside and work within the state for a year per year they receive funding; otherwise, the grant converts into a loan requiring repayment. Qualifying courses include agriculture, computer science, business, education, special education, STEM education, engineering, nursing, allied health, criminal justice among others approved by PHEAA.

Applications for the 2025-26 academic year are now open on a first-come-first-served basis. A related initiative is available for out-of-state students through the Grow PA Tuition Waiver Program. This allows non-resident Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) students studying high-demand subjects to pay tuition at an in-state rate if they agree to live and work in Pennsylvania after graduation.
