Rep. Dane Watro and Sen. Dave Argall have announced nearly $250,000 in state funding for park improvements in McAdoo Borough and Hazle Township. The grants aim to enhance recreational facilities in these areas.
McAdoo Borough will receive $149,590 to convert tennis courts at Veterans Memorial Park into two pickleball courts. Hazle Township has been awarded $100,000 to complete the second phase of its Community Park master plan, which includes rehabilitating a 0.26-mile trail and adding a parking area.
“I supported the funding for the park improvements because these projects will provide lasting benefits to our communities, offering recreational opportunities for all ages and enhancing the quality of life for residents of all ages,” said Rep. Watro.
Sen. Argall expressed gratitude for the competitive state funding, stating, “Our communities are healthier and stronger when we have quality parks and trails for all to enjoy.”
The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved the grants through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program. This program is backed by the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012, which allocates natural gas drilling impact fees.
