Rep. Dane Watro and Sen. Dave Argall have announced the allocation of nearly $250,000 in state funding for park improvement projects in McAdoo Borough and Hazle Township. The funding was secured with significant contributions from both lawmakers.

The grants include $149,590 for McAdoo Borough to transform tennis courts at Veterans Memorial Park into two pickleball courts. Additionally, Hazle Township will receive $100,000 to complete phase two of its Community Park master plan. This phase includes the rehabilitation of a 0.26-mile trail and the addition of a parking area.

"I supported the funding for the park improvements because these projects will provide lasting benefits to our communities, offering recreational opportunities for all ages and enhancing the quality of life for residents of all ages," said Watro.

Argall added, "I’m grateful this highly competitive state funding will provide new opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Our communities are healthier and stronger when we have quality parks and trails for all to enjoy."

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program. The program is funded by the Marcellus Legacy Fund established by Act 13 of 2012, which allocates natural gas drilling impact fees.

The CFA is an independent agency responsible for overseeing programs that contribute to Pennsylvania's economic growth.
