Senator Lisa Baker and Representative Aaron Kaufer have officially welcomed Compass of Northeastern Pennsylvania (Compass of NEPA) to Kingston. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the company's headquarters on Wyoming Avenue.
Compass of NEPA is a technology company that plans to recruit engineers, designers, technicians, and marketing majors from local colleges and universities. The goal is to help students bring their ideas from concept to finished product.
"This company is a welcome and exciting building block for community development," said Baker. "Employing the knowledge and skills of students graduating from local schools should bring a new level of professional and entrepreneurial impact to the area."
The management team at Compass of NEPA has over 260 years of combined experience in developing consumer products such as video games, gaming systems, drones, toys, and more.
Kaufer expressed optimism about retaining local talent: "The era of our top-notch STEAM graduates leaving the area to pursue their dreams ends today."
Joe Lubinski, CEO of Compass of NEPA, also attended the event. A native of Scranton with nearly 50 years in game development, Lubinski shared his perspective: "I have witnessed firsthand the exodus that occurs when students graduate and leave the area to pursue their careers."
The first group of eight students began working with Compass earlier this year. They are currently in the early stages of concept development. Students interested in joining can apply through their school's website or contact info@compassofnepa.com.
