Rep. Alec Ryncavage of Luzerne County is set to host a document shredding event on Saturday, June 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event will take place at Crestwood Area High School, located at 281 S. Mountain Boulevard in Mountain Top.
This event is free and offers individuals the chance to securely dispose of personal documents such as bank statements and tax returns, reducing the risk of identity theft.
"I am thrilled to offer this type of service to our community, and I am committed to providing helpful events like this in the future," said Ryncavage. "Identity theft is a serious issue, and shredding personal documents is an important first step in protecting oneself from this type of crime."
The event will be contact-free, with participants asked to remain in their vehicles while staff members unload their items. It is open only to residents; businesses are not permitted.
Paper Eaters will handle the on-site shredding of documents. Participants can bring up to three paper-sized boxes of documents but should remove any metal fasteners or binder clips beforehand.
