Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne) announced the allocation of nearly $1.75 million in state funding for various municipal projects and purchases within the 117th Legislative District. Cabell played a pivotal role in securing 14 Local Share Account (LSA) grants.
“Some of this funding will go toward projects with far-reaching benefits, such as much-needed improvement work at the Freeland Borough building,” said Cabell. “I was also pleased to advocate for money for continued improvements at the White Haven Area Community Library and Camp Kresge, two venues I’ve become quite familiar with during my time in office. Other purchases will help ensure public safety, and I always stand ready and willing to assist our great local officers.”
The local grants include:
- Butler Township: $489,000 for repaving project along St. Johns Road.
- Dallas Borough: $75,000 for purchase of police vehicle and license plate reader camera system.
- Dennison Township: $22,103 for improvements to Red Shale Pit Road and Peat Moss Road.
- Dorrance Township: $70,000 for purchase of new truck.
- Freeland Borough: $100,000 for renovations to borough building.
- Harveys Lake: $100,000 for construction of salt storage facility.
- Hollenback Township: $100,000 for purchase of backhoe.
- Kingston Township: $350,000 for purchase of record management system for police data shared by Back Mountain Community Partnership.

- Shickshinny Borough: $35,000 for upgrades at wastewater treatment plant.
- Sugarloaf Township: $70,000 for further improvements at LaRock Recreation Field.
- White Haven Borough: $100,000 for further improvements at its multi-purpose library and heritage visitors center.
“I was pleased to join Sens. Dave Argall, Lisa Baker and Lynda Culver in advocating on behalf of these grant applications to benefit our local municipalities,” Cabell added.
The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency responsible for overseeing funding programs aimed at Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are funded through gaming revenues.
