Rep. Dane Watro and Sen. Dave Argall have announced the awarding of over $700,000 in state funding for street improvement projects in Hazleton and Mahanoy City. The grants, totaling $415,000 for Mahanoy City and $300,000 for Hazleton, will be used for streetscape improvements in the respective areas.

"These grants are for ongoing projects designed to enhance the streetscapes in both municipalities, which is critical to attracting new development and jobs," said Watro. He also expressed his support for the projects and the funding needed to make the improvements.

Senator Argall echoed the sentiment, stating, "So many people in both Hazleton and Mahanoy City are working to breathe new life into the communities they call home." He emphasized the positive impact the grants will have on the areas, including refurbished downtown sidewalks, new benches, trees, and other improvements.

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, aiming to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents. The CFA, as an independent agency of the Commonwealth, oversees the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania's economic growth.

The street improvement projects in Hazleton and Mahanoy City are expected to contribute to the revitalization of the communities and further attract development and job opportunities.
