HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) have revealed that a state grant of almost $355,000 has been allocated for a street improvement project in Lehman Township. The funding is designated for the reconstruction of Market Street in the township to enhance access to various public facilities.

"This project will tackle a critical infrastructure need as Market Street is the primary entryway to Lehman-Jackson Elementary School, the Victory Baptist Bible Church, and the Huntsville Golf Course. The road is in dire need of repair and the township cannot take on the financial responsibility alone," stated Cabell, emphasizing the importance of the project in ensuring safer access for school buses and vehicles while boosting the economic vitality of the area.

“Securing this funding is another win for the efforts to upgrade roads throughout the county. The improvements funded here have positive economic, environmental, and safety impacts. Local communities and motorists will be happy to see the project move from planning to construction,” added Baker, highlighting the broader benefits of the street improvement initiative.

The grant, approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Multimodal Transportation Fund, aims to promote economic development and enhance the transportation system's safety and reliability for Pennsylvania residents. The CFA, serving as an independent agency of the Commonwealth, oversees the funding of programs and investments crucial for Pennsylvania's economic growth.

The street improvement project in Lehman Township, championed by Rep. Cabell and Sen. Baker, is poised to address vital infrastructure needs, improve access to key public facilities, and contribute to the overall well-being of the community.
