DALLAS – Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne) has announced an upcoming shredding/cleanup event to assist residents with the disposal of personal paperwork and other items. The event will take place at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds in Dallas on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cabell expressed his satisfaction in being able to offer these services to residents free of charge, stating, "My staff and I are pleased we can provide these services to residents at no cost."
Cabell highlighted the growing popularity of such events, stating, "Events like this have become very popular as folks take advantage of the opportunity to shred sensitive documents to guard against identity theft or safely dispose of old tires."
Residents attending the event are requested to stay in their vehicles while Cabell's staff unloads items for disposal. Accepted items include up to four copy-paper-sized boxes of paperwork per vehicle, up to four tires from a passenger vehicle, pickup truck, or SUV (off the rim and clean), and torn or faded U.S. flags, which will be collected for proper disposal by the Harveys Lake American Legion.
Additionally, Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge will be accepting donations of canned pet food, while the Domestic Violence Service Center will be collecting donations of personal hygiene products at the event.
For further details, individuals are encouraged to contact Cabell's district office in Dallas at 570-675-6000.
