In response to what he perceives as federal inaction and obstruction regarding illegal immigration, Representative Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne) has announced his intention to introduce a concurrent resolution that affirms state sovereignty and supports Texas in its efforts to combat illegal immigration. Cabell specifically criticizes the Biden administration for impeding the Texas National Guard's ability to assist with immigration enforcement and removing physical deterrents placed on the border by the Texas government.

Cabell argues, "Texas and other states have the constitutional right to defend themselves when the federal government has not provided assistance or actually impeded their ability to defend their borders and sovereignty." He believes that the resolution will send a message to the federal government that the Pennsylvania General Assembly stands with Texas and supports states' ability to defend their borders when the federal government fails to do so.

In addition to the resolution, Cabell plans to send a letter to Governor Josh Shapiro and Attorney General Michelle Henry, urging them to take steps that demonstrate Pennsylvania's support for Texas and states' rights. Cabell emphasizes the need for Pennsylvania to stand against federal inaction and support states like Texas that are taking constitutionally necessary action to protect their borders and uphold the rule of law.

Cabell's initiative has garnered attention and support. As he notes, "We must speak with one voice that Pennsylvania will not stand for inaction as the federal government refuses to enforce our immigration laws." Cabell's co-sponsorship memo for the resolution can be viewed on his website, RepCabell.com.
