Mayor George C. Brown Announces Electronics Recycling Event for City Resident

Wilkes-Barre City Hall issued the following announcement on Aug. 23.

The City of Wilkes-Barre has partnered with Responsible Recycling Solutions (RSS) to host a drive-through, Electronics Recycling Event for City Residents in October.  The event will be held on Monday, October 25th, 2021, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM and on Thursday, October 28th, 2021 from 9:00 AM  to 12:00 PM, at the Wilkes-Barre Public Works Facility, 3 Conyngham Ave., Wilkes-Barre, PA  18711.

The event is only for City of Wilkes-Barre residents, who must present proof of residency (i.e. Driver’s License). It is a non-contact event and residents must stay in their car. Please visit www.wilkes-barre.city/erecycling for more information

Items accepted for free are as follows:

  • Desktop & Laptop Computers
  • DVD Players & VCR’s
  • Keyboards & Mice
  • Gaming Systems
  • Printers/Fax Machines
  • String Christmas Lights
  • Cables & Cords
  • Microwaves & Small Appliances
  • Cell Phone & Laptop Batteries
  • Metal Items & Water Heaters
  • Calculators & Adding Machines
  • Exercise Equipment                
  • UPS Battery Backups
  • Car Batteries (sealed lead acid)
  • Toner & Ink Cartridges
  • Bed Frames & Rain spouting
  • Audio Visual Equipment
  • Filing Cabinets
  • Telephones & Cell Phones*
*Please Remove Cell Phone Batteries

Additional Items that can be recycled with a fee, paid via Cash or Checks ONLY. Please Make Checks Payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS:

  • CRT Monitors - $17.00 (Tube Type)
  • LCD Monitors - $12.00
  • Televisions under 42” - $38.00 ALL Types
  • Floor Copiers - $20.00
  • TVs (in wooden cabinet, Projection, Over 42”, TV Tubes (Broken TVs”) $55.00
  • Console Stereos (in cabinet) - $35.00
Offsite Hard Drive destruction services are $10 per drive and include a Certificate of Destruction.

Household batteries, light bulbs, CDs, DVDs, VHS Tapes and Styrofoam are NOT accepted.
