Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) is set to participate in the official launch of the West Side Regional Police Department (WSRPD), a new initiative that brings together police services for Edwardsville and Larksville boroughs. The grand opening event, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, will include remarks from local, state, and federal officials as well as a ribbon cutting and a guided tour of the department’s future permanent headquarters.
The day will begin with a meet and greet session from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the Edwardsville Borough Building, where attendees can interact with Chief Joseph Coffay, WSRPD board members, and officers. Formal remarks are planned from 1 to 1:45 p.m., followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at the temporary headquarters in Larksville Borough Building between 1:45 and 2:15 p.m. Transportation will be provided for participants moving between locations.
A guided site walk of the department’s future permanent headquarters at the former St. Anthony’s Campus in Larksville is scheduled from 2:15 to 3 p.m., with winter footwear recommended due to weather conditions.
Speakers and guests expected at the event include Congressman Rob Bresnahan, State Senator Lisa Baker, State Representative Alec Ryncavage, Luzerne County Council Chairman Jimmy Sabatino, District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Vilello, and Chief Joseph Coffay.
“This event marks an historic regionalization effort unifying police services for Edwardsville and Larksville boroughs,” said organizers.
