Rep. Alec Ryncavage will join local, state, and federal officials to mark the official launch of the West Side Regional Police Department (WSRPD), a new agency formed through the consolidation of police services for Edwardsville and Larksville boroughs. The event is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, with activities beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The day’s events will start with a meet and greet involving Chief Joseph Coffay, WSRPD board members, and officers at the Edwardsville Borough Building. Formal remarks from dignitaries will follow at the same location. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned at the temporary headquarters in Larksville Borough Building, with transportation provided between sites. The program concludes with a guided tour of what will become the department’s permanent headquarters at the former St. Anthony’s Campus.
Speakers and attendees include Congressman Rob Bresnahan, State Senator Lisa Baker, State Representative Alec Ryncavage, Luzerne County Council Chairman Jimmy Sabatino, District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Vilello, and Chief Joseph Coffay.
The regionalization represents an effort to unify law enforcement services in these communities under one organization.
