Rep. Alec Ryncavage, together with Senators Lisa Baker and Lynda Schlegel Culver, announced that over $2.9 million in grants will be awarded to school districts and municipalities in Luzerne County. These funds are provided through Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement grants by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“These grant dollars mark a crucial advancement, as funding is secured to finish long-standing projects like the Glen Lyon Streetscape and to kick off new initiatives, including the Larksville Veteran’s Memorial Park,” stated Ryncavage. “We're not just completing existing efforts but also building a foundation for a brighter future in our communities.”

Among the projects receiving funding, Fairview Township will get $242,000 to replace the Dale Drive Bridge and $300,000 for an addition to its municipal and police building. Larksville Borough is set to receive $75,142 to establish a new Veteran’s Memorial Park. Crestwood Industrial Park will benefit from $750,000 for improvements on Oak Hill Road, while Newport Township is allocated $261,191 for sidewalk enhancements along Glen Lyon.

In addition, the Crestwood School District will receive $1.3 million to replace the roof at Fairview Elementary School.

CFA is described as an independent agency responsible for overseeing the funding of various programs and investments aimed at economic growth in Pennsylvania.

Ryncavage emphasized the significance of these investments amid rising inflation: "As inflation continues to drive up costs making these projects unaffordable for our municipalities – even for the projects that were already in the works – I am committed to collaborating with our local officials to ensure we get these projects over the finish line for our residents."
