State Representative Alec Ryncavage has announced a progression in the repair efforts at the Reading Railroad crossing on Kirby Avenue. The area has been a concern for local residents and commuters due to its poor condition. Ryncavage's direct communication with the Reading Railroad president has led to an acceleration of the repair process.

“The intersection at Kirby Avenue has been a source of frustration and safety concerns for residents and commuters due to its deteriorating condition,” Ryncavage stated. He noted that emergency track repairs had been conducted two weeks prior, involving the addition of stone at the crossing as a temporary measure. While this step was necessary due to the unavailability of asphalt, it resulted in turbulent conditions for vehicles, prompting further interventions.

The Reading Railroad explained that the use of stone was made necessary by seasonal limitations affecting the availability of asphalt materials. In response to growing concerns, Ryncavage liaised with the Reading Railroad Government Affairs office to hasten the repair process. This resulted in additional stone being added to improve safety conditions at the intersection.

A more permanent repair plan is set to begin within the next three weeks, which will include the mobilization of paving equipment to ensure a smooth asphalt surface at both the Kirby Avenue and Church Road crossings. Ryncavage acknowledged the cooperation from Reading Railroad and aims to monitor the repair process to ensure timely and effective completion. Updates on the progress will be shared via Ryncavage's official Facebook page.
