As the tax season approaches, the significance of safeguarding personal information becomes increasingly important. To help local residents in this regard, state Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) has organized a Shredding Day for residents of the 119th Legislative District. The event will take place on Saturday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Crestwood High School. Attendees will have the opportunity to dispose of documents containing personal and sensitive information.

“Year after year, residents eagerly anticipate the opportunity to safely dispose of their documents, which many save throughout the year,” noted Ryncavage. He underscored the importance of taking "proactive steps in safeguarding personal information from junk mail to bank statements" particularly during the tax season.

The event offers a secure and efficient way for individuals to handle document disposal. Located at Crestwood High School on 281 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top, the event allows residents to drive up and get assistance from Ryncavage and his team. Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles, and each is permitted to dispose of up to three copy-paper-sized boxes of paper.

Ryncavage has also planned a second Community Shredding Event scheduled for Saturday, July 27, at Hanover Area High School, 1600 Sans Souci Pkwy, Hanover Township.

For further details regarding this event or other state-related inquiries, residents can reach out to Ryncavage’s district offices. The offices are located at 50 N. Walnut St., Suite 102, in Nanticoke, and at the Fairview Township Municipal Building at 65 Shady Tree Drive in Mountain Top. People can also call 570-902-4082 or visit online resources.
