Rep. Dane Watro has been appointed to the School Safety and Security Committee under the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. The appointment was made by House Republican Leader Jesse Topper.
Watro expressed gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role and contribute to the safety and security of our schools, which should always be a top priority." He also thanked Leader Topper for entrusting him with this responsibility.
The committee, established as part of Act 44 of 2018, focuses on making Pennsylvania schools safer. It oversees state funding distribution for security equipment, police officers, and student mental health programs. Members are appointed for four-year terms.
Topper praised Watro's qualifications, saying, "Rep. Watro has had a distinguished military career and, during his time in the Pennsylvania House, has proven himself to be a leader on education issues."
Watro will replace Rep. Stephenie Scialabba and complete her term expiring in February 2028.
