Rep. Alec Ryncavage is set to host a document shredding event on Saturday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hanover Area High School in Hanover Township. The event aims to help individuals securely dispose of personal documents like bank statements and tax returns to mitigate the risk of identity theft.
"I am thrilled to offer this type of service to our community, and I am committed to providing helpful events like this in the future," said Ryncavage. "Identity theft is a serious issue, and shredding personal documents is an important first step in protecting oneself from this type of crime."
The event will be contact-free, requiring participants to remain in their vehicles while staff unload their items. It is open only to residents, not businesses.
Documents will be shredded on-site by Paper Eaters. Participants can bring up to three paper-sized boxes of documents but are reminded to remove any metal fasteners and binder clips beforehand. Those unable to attend will have another opportunity in June during a similar event in Mountain Top.
