Rep. Mike Cabell (R-Luzerne) has announced the expansion of a program aimed at providing free assistance to area veterans at his district offices in Sugarloaf and Dallas. Starting in May, additional service days will be offered for veterans to seek help with benefits or inquire about entitled programs.

The representative expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "I am pleased to be able to add an extra service day every month when veterans can come in for help with benefits or ask questions about programs for which they are entitled." Cabell further emphasized the partnership with the VFW to extend support to veterans and their dependents in the 117th Legislative District.

VFW representative Judy Zaykoski will be present on the first Monday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cabell's district office in Sugarloaf, located at 669 State Route 93. Veterans interested in availing of this service can schedule appointments by calling 570-359-2138. Zaykoski's assistance will encompass guiding veterans and their families through the intricate system of Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, including support with vocational rehabilitation, VA home loans, education, insurance, burial benefits, and non-service-connected pensions.

Moreover, Cabell's existing monthly veterans outreach in collaboration with the American Legion will continue with designated hours at both district offices. Veterans or their dependents can meet with an American Legion service officer without the requirement of American Legion membership. The scheduled hours are as follows:

- Second Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the district office in Dallas (1108 Twin Stacks Drive).

- Third Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the district office in Sugarloaf.

For appointments during these sessions, individuals are encouraged to call 570-675-6000 for Dallas and 570-359-2138 for Sugarloaf.
