Artist Patricia Moss-Vreeland will present her works at the Sordoni Art Gallery beginning Aug. 26, 2022.
The Sordoni Art Gallery at Wilkes University will present “In Search of Meaning: Memory Becomes Us” by Philadelphia-based artist, author, poet and thought leader Patricia Moss-Vreeland, from Aug. 26 through Oct. 9.
The show will feature paintings, prints, artist books, poetry and videos focusing on Moss-Vreeland’s ongoing inquiry about the social impact of memory through science, history and language, and the relationship between memory and place, emotion, senses, creativity, pattern-making and personal identity.
In connection with the exhibit, the gallery will feature a series of events that are free and open to the public:
Second Saturdays Family Hour – 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10:
All ages and experience levels are welcome to attend the Second Saturdays Family Hour. In this Making Memories scrapbooking workshop, families will create an 8×8-inch scrapbook page about the visit to the gallery. One instant photo and all scrapbooking materials will be provided.
Art in Context Feature Lecture with the Artist – 5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15:
Join the artist at the Gallery for an “Art in Context” lecture. A reception will follow featuring light refreshments and a wine and beer bar.
Art in Your Hands: Making Memories Workshop and Sordoni Art Gallery Birthday Party-11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6
Celebrate the Sordoni Gallery’s anniversary in their current location at the Art in Your Hands: Making Memories scrapbooking workshop. Drop in to create an 8 x 8-inch scrapbook page highlighting memories from Wilkes. One instant photo and all scrapbooking materials will be provided. Participants may also bring two or three photos with them. The workshop will focus on memory-keeping and creating connections to the exhibition. All experience levels are welcome. Enjoy free refreshments to mark the occasion.
