Student Scores Her Dream Internship – at Disney!

Morgan rich profile 1

Wilkes University issued the following announcement on Mar. 16.

For Morgan Rich, a dream was really a wish her heart made in eighth grade – to someday work for Disney. That was the year she first visited Disney World with the Pottsville High School band. “It was then that I discovered that there was a Disney College Program that allowed you to work at Disney and get college credits.” Rich also had a friend who was accepted to the program and loved it. “She told me all about it and it made me want to go even more.”

But, when the sophomore communication studies major finally applied, she told no one. Not even her parents. “I felt that it was such a whim, and only 20 percent of the applicants even make it to the final part of the acceptance,” she said. So when she received her acceptance in an email, she was shocked. “I could have fallen over. I was screaming and really happy!” If everything works out, Rich is hoping to spend the fall 2022 semester in Orlando. “I’m not exactly sure where I’ll be working,” she said. “You don’t find out what role you are going to get until about a month before your arrival date.” The Disney College Program does take a student’s college and work experience into consideration. There’s even a Disney ‘village’ designated for College Program participants where students can live if they choose.

Rich encourages other students to reach out and take a chance on an internship like the Disney College Program. “Just do it!” She said. “You’ll gain wonderful memories and good job experience to add to your resume.” After all, If you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true…
