Cost of college went up for all students at Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Wilkes-Barre

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.1 percent for 2018-19 at Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Wilkes-Barre, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $13,586 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $18 more than the $13,568 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 60.2 percent more than residents this year, or $21,770. Their price tag grew 2.7 percent from $21,202 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 83 students received grants or scholarships totaling $625,380 and 70 students took out student loans totaling more than $407,903.

Including all undergraduates (438), 394 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.2 million, and 260 students took out $1.7 million in federal student loans.
