A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 23, from noon to 1 p.m. to mark the opening of a rebuilt magisterial district judge office in Luzerne County. The event will take place at the site of a former district court building that was destroyed by fire in May 2024. The new facility, located behind the Edwardsville Borough Building, will be dedicated to the late District Judge James Haggerty.

State Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-Luzerne) will attend the ceremony along with State Rep. Brenda Pugh and Luzerne County President Judge Stefanie Salavantis. District Judge Josh Moses is set to preside over court proceedings at the new location.

The dedication recognizes Judge Haggerty’s service to the community prior to his passing.
