On Wednesday, April 30, former Hazleton Area High School standout Makenna Balay’s current college team, the Kutztown Golden Bears, won 2-1 in their NCAA Division II softball game against the Seton Hill Griffins.
The game took place at Veterans Park. This was their first matchup against the Griffins this season.
The Golden Bears’ next game is scheduled for Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park against Slippery Rock The Rock.

State Representative Dane Watro (R-Luzerne/Schuylkill) and Senator Dave Argall (R-29) have announced that $500,000 in grants from the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program will be allocated to several municipalities in Schuylkill County.
