More than $713,000 in state funding has been allocated to support improvements at four community parks in northeastern Pennsylvania. The announcement was made by Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20), Sen. Rosemary Brown (R-40), Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne), and Rep. Jeff Olsommer (R-Wayne/Pike). The funds are distributed through the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
“Our community parks are the gathering spots for friends and family, so it makes sense to invest in these public meeting spaces,” the legislators said. “These funds will go a long way to improve recreational opportunities in our district.”
West Ann Memorial Park in Milford Borough, Pike County, is set to receive $250,000 for projects including pavilion construction, installation of play equipment with safety surfacing and fencing, ADA access upgrades, landscaping, and related site improvements.
Carlton Drake Memorial Park in Dreher Township, Wayne County, will receive $193,400 to renovate its pavilion, add pedestrian walkways and parking areas, install new play equipment with safety surfacing, enhance ADA access, improve landscaping, and complete other site updates.
In Gibson Township of Susquehanna County, Ervin Kaminski Park is awarded $70,000 for building a comfort station as well as pedestrian walkways and parking areas. Additional plans include utility installations, ADA accessibility enhancements, landscaping and other site work.
Ira Reynolds Park along the Susquehanna River in Susquehanna Depot Borough will receive $200,000 for constructing a boat launch facility with ADA access features along with landscaping and other related improvements.
Additionally, the Pennsylvania Route 6 Alliance is being granted $462,300 to continue developing bicycle tourism resources and promote the PA Route 6 Artisan Trail among other initiatives.
The funding for this round of C2P2 grants comes from sources such as the Keystone Fund and Environmental Stewardship Fund.
